2nd CMA National Competition

This year's CMA National Competition was held on 31 May 2009 at Republic Polytechnic. Bryan managed to make it for the criteria to take part in Grade 13 for the competition. This is quite lucky because he really looked forward to taking part. Because....he wanted a trophy like Marcus. :)

Well, the event was better organised than last year but there are still room for improvement. One good thing is that we get to wait in air-con halls instead of the heaty CC where we were in last year. This year, Marcus is in Grade 10 for mental and Grade 11 for Abacus. Bryan is in Grade 13. Marcus fell short of my expectations but he still made it into 2nd Prize. Bryan was 5th. But he was still beaming and happy with is trophy. What a cheerful boy! Not once was he sad that his brother got 2 bigger trophies than his. There are so much that I could learn from him. ^_^

Marcus got 2-3 (4th) for mental, 2-9 (10th) for abacus and Bryan got 5-3 (403th?) for his mental. Basically, all of them got downgraded 2 grades for the compeition and thus Grade 13 consists of the most number of kids.

Marcus got "picked" by his teacher to join a special class where he will be trained for speed. This is the class where you can find the champions there. It will be an hour class each week. We decided to let him have a try and hope he will like it. He just attended the lesson today and he mentioned that the kids in class can calculate very fast. Hee Hee...I guess he did not know what is the meaning of this class. Anyway, he says he quite like it. So we will leave him to have fun in it until he gets bored of it. Ha Ha Ha...Anyway, I think we will let him continue for at most one more year only. It is too costly to learn adding numbers by increasing his speed. KeKeKeKe...Can use Calculator...^_^
