Marcus is 2nd in CMA competition

1 June 2008 - The 1st CMA competition was held at Chong Pang CC and Marcus was taking part in the Grade 13 Mental Arithmetric group. Initially he was ok and feeling alright. The moment we step into the CC, I think he starts to feel the butterflies in his stomach. There were 4 sessions and he is in the first. When we brought him into the hall, he started crying and wanted us to stay there with him.

With teary eyes, he sat there with other students waiting for the compeition to start. I had to make myself visible to him from the top so that he feels better. Round 1 is to complete 10 questions in 1 minute. Same for round 2. Round 3 is to complete as many questions out of 40 in 1 minute. We only see his smile when it ended. Guess he knows it is over and no longer feels scare.

When we return back to see the results, we were surprised that he was No. 2 in his category. Well, we did not know that ALL the kids will have a trophy. Only knew it when we went back. There were like 18 2nd prize winners, 30+ 2rd prize winners and god knows how many 4th and 5th winners. Ha Ha...Well, as shown on the results, Marcus is the TRUC No. 2 and the Champion is a Primary 3 girl so I guess I could say he performed well. And yes, we as parents are both proud and happy for him. ^_^.

My lovely little champion!!

Scary day in May 2008

Bryan was having up and down fever in a week of May and we visited the doc 2 times. He was on 2 separate courses of anti-biotics and still not well. We went back to the clinic again on Sat and had a xray done on him at the Yishun PolyClinic. We went home for lunch and when Bryan started making a fuss to eat his medicine, he suddenly vomited out BLOOD! Very scary scene for us. We quickly took a picture of it and went back to the clinic. Luckily, Dr. Toh says it is likely from a erupted vessel in his nose. What a fright... Heng he got better as the days goes by...
